Frequently asked questions.
Why not just use Wix, Squarespace or a Facebook page?
If you've got the time and inclination to build and maintain a site yourself, DIY builders work fine — they cost about £15–40 a month and you're in charge. Facebook's great for people who already follow you, but it doesn't show up properly when someone Googles your trade in your town.
Beacon is the “I don't want to deal with any of this” option — done for you, looked after for you, at a fair price.
Do I have to take the monthly plan?
No. Tier 1 (£399) is a one-off — we build the site, deploy it to your own hosting account, register the domain in your name, hand over the logins, and you're away. Most owners end up on Tier 2 because they'd rather we handled the running of it, but it's your call.
What if I want to leave later?
You can cancel with 30 days' notice. Your domain stays in your name (it always was). You can either take the site files elsewhere or we'll wind it down cleanly. No lock-in, no leaving fees, no “the site goes dark.”
Are you only in Fife?
Fife is where we focus our outreach — it's home, it's where in-person visits are easy, and word travels fast in a tight network. But we'll happily work with clients anywhere in Scotland or the wider UK. Get in touch.
How long does it actually take?
The free preview is usually live within 48 hours. From there, most sites are live in about three weeks. The longest bit is normally waiting for you to send us a few photos and copy — we can help with both.
What about online booking, callbacks, ordering, or a database?
Online booking we do as an add-on by integrating a proper tool (Fresha, Square, DoTheBeauty) into your own branded site — from £150 one time cost. We also do a callback flow (£75 one time cost): a simple form where customers leave their details and pick a time for you to ring them back, wired into your calendar so the slot's there waiting for you. Bespoke ordering or anything with a database is a separate conversation, with its own pricing and ongoing fee. Most local businesses don't need it.
What if I don't have a logo, photos, or copy?
Most owners don't. We'll work with what you have, draft the copy with you, and either tidy up your existing photos or arrange new ones. A simple wordmark logo can be sorted in an afternoon if you don't have one. None of this is a blocker.
